Booking InfoDeadwood Songbook
Singer, songwriter and musical archivist Hank Harris
of the Black Hills presents a lively picture of
Deadwood, South Dakota, through the wildly diverse
music that passed through this turbulent gold camp
from 1876 to 1910. Harris' performance features music
from minstrel shows to church hymns, vaudeville to
ethnic folk music, piano parlor airs to cowboy songs
and more. All were heard from street corners, opera
houses, campfires, brothels and saloons. Harris will
explore the characters, history and legends of South
Dakota's notorious mining town through song and
story. He also will do shows of his own songs upon
request. Harris' various bands have included the
Lonesome Prairie Playboys, Red Willow Band, R&B
Supply and Sherman & the Waybacks, as well as his
solo work.
