Hank Harris combines world influences with a pop sensible groove. The vocals have a upbeat and cheerful
tone that come through even on the sad songs. The musicianship is excellent throughout the entire album.
Each song utilizes different genres and influences, and makes for a very interesting album.
I love the way that the different influences do not keep the music from moving off of it's original path. Everything seems to fit together, and give Hank Harris his own sound and style without being too off the wall or too standard. From world pop to smooth jazz, Hank gives every song his undivided attention. There is a dynamic flow to this album that captivated me. It's not often that I get to hear music of this caliber. This is a very well written album that delivers everything that any music fan could want. Michael Allison- THEGLOBALMUSE.COM Rundown: Sound Quality: 5 stars Production: 5 Stars Musicianship: 4 stars Originality: 4 stars Over All: 4 stars Genre: Pop On "Here" Hank Harris seduces with infectious grooves, catchy melodies, and lyrics that aim for the heart. Harris phrases with the acquired wisdom of a blues master, and his arrangements incorporate lush backing vocals, vibes, sitars, a myriad of percussive textures, acoustic and electric guitars, and plenty of soul. Harris can play the role of jazzman ("Cry Wolf"), folk crooner ("What I had With You"), and rock star ("Nothing at All") with genuine expertise, though his true talent lies in his understanding and execution of classic pop song craft. Even if these compositions were rendered on a battered acoustic guitar and sung into a crackly cassette deck, they'd still move listeners. Here is an album that will never sound dated or fail to inspire. A true Tom Semioli, AMG Expert Review 5 stars for Hank Harris "Here" ISWM Indie Pick of the Month Eerie vibrations become the catalyst for this foreboding masterpiece of musical suspense. With his earthy and manly crooning, Hank Harris seductively coaxes the listener's ear into a frenzied hysteria. A deliciously intoxicating piece of work. Independent SongWriter Web-Magazine Hank Harris Here Hank Harris lives in these 12 songs like a prairie dog on the range. The South Dakota-based singer/songwriter sits as comfortable as 10-year old jeans as he seamlessly segues from reggae to country to jazz to power pop to slinky blues on "Here" his second CD. Harris smoothly tosses off phrases such as "She's my MSG, my formaldehype" and "I was right on time when I missed you" like he's saying hello. A dazzling pop craftsman with a wry, pleasantly humorous take on the world, his songwriting hooks never come up empty. Harris's voice and fine musical cast will grow on you like ivy in New England. This keeper just gets better and better with each listening. Fred Kraus, Minor 7th |
